How to wear a maxi skirt

Maxi skirts are perfect for fall and just about any time of the year. They are so versatile, just look at some of the ways you can wear them.

I love the idea of a denim jacket buttoned up as a top!

One of my favorite ways to wear a maxi skirt is with an effortless chambray shirt just tied in the front.

Stripes and a maxi, how could you go wrong?! She looks warm and toasty and oh so fabulous!

Adding a skinny belt and some bright heels adds a little interest without going overboard.

I love this! A scarf, a demin jacket, a maxi, and tank. Many of us have these items in out closets already!

EASY! A white shirt and a statement necklace!

Go a little more edgy and wear a leather jacket with a bold necklace.

One of my fashion idols wears an adorable vest with her maxi skirt.

a cute fitted jacket and bold accessories make this look to die for!

a comfortable slouchy shirt and understated accessories make a maxi a perfect fit for the beach.

I love the cardigan and belt, such an effortless yet put together look.

Maxi skirts are so wonderful! I want one in every color and they aren't just limited to one look either.

I have also pulled my maxi skirt up to my chest and paired it with a cute cardigan and belt.

You can find chambray shirts as seen in this post as well as maxi skirts at SHY Boutique for excellent prices. Get in on the fall trend and wear your skirt year round!

Tie it up

Fall is coming and one of my favorite accessories to wear is a scarf. Often I just find just one way to tie it and I keep wearing it that single way. So I decided that we all could use a more versatile piece. I'll show you the many ways to tie a scarf from images and tutorials all over the internet so we can keep it all in one place and refer back here when we need a little help in the morning.

From Wendy's Lookbook this video has 25 ways to tie a scarf, yes, 25!!

Tutorial of the scarves below is found at The Fashion Spot

How to tie a half-bow scarf

To tie the half-bow scarf, you should first loop the scarf around your neck and tie once-- like the first step of tying your shoelaces. Then, take one side of the scarf and make a one loop, as if you were only tying one side of the bow on your shoes. Take the longer section of the scarf and wrap it in front and then behind the entire scarf, next to your neck. Fluff the loop afterwards to taste. This is a variation on this half-bow scarftutorial. Check the video link if you have any trouble.

How to tie a scarf bow

Wrap the scarf around your neck and make sure both ends are even. Then, tie the scarf just as you would tie any bow. You need a longer scarf for this one.

How to braid a scarf

Although it looks complicated, this scarf style is easy to tie. Just double up the scarf and wrap it around your neck. Take one end and thread it through the loop, rotate the loop, and then thread through the other end.

How to tie the scarf rosette belt

Wrap a longer scarf around your waist and then twist it until the scarf starts to curl around itself. Keep twisting and place the twisted sections around in a flower shape. Tuck in the ends.

How to tie a layered knot

Start by putting the scarf around your neck so that the ends hang in back. Then wrap the ends around to the front and loosen the section of scarf around your neck. Tie the dangling ends together and then pull the loop around your neck in front of the knot.

How to tie a simple slip knot

Double up your scarf and wrap it around the back of your neck. Then, slip both ends of the scarf into the loop.

How to tie the half-bow cinch

With the center of the scarf on the front of your neck, wrap the ends around your neck and back to the front. Then tie the ends together and bring one end up in a loop like tying a "bunny ear" on your shoelaces. Tighten and fluff.

How to tie the knotted loop

Take both ends of the scarf and tie them together. Then open the loop and put it around your neck. (This tying method works better with skinny scarves.)

How to tie a muffler scarf

Take one end of a wide scarf and place it on your shoulder. Take one corner from the other end and make a little knot on one shoulder. Leave the last corner free to give the triangle look.

How to tie a knot row

Wrap a thinner scarf around the back of your neck and start making ties. Leave a little space and make more ties. Adjust the scarf so that it looks straight.

How to tie the slip knot ascot

Tie a regular slip knot and then take one end of the scarf and tuck it around and back into the loop.

How to tie the simple double knot

Take each end of the scarf and make a knot. Adjust each end so that they are even with equal lengths extending from the knots.

How to tie the neck rosette

Take a skinny scarf and wrap it around your neck. Start twisting the scarf until it curls and then start wrapping the scarf around itself. Tuck in the ends.

How to tie the fake knot

Tie a loop at one end of your scarf and leave it loose. Slip the other end of the scarf into the loop and tighten it to taste.

How to tie the double loop wrap

Start with the middle of your scarf on the back of your neck. Loop the ends of the scarf around and back to the front. Tie the two ends together with a simple tie to make the second layer.

This blogger adds a cute brooch to her scarf that is shown how to be tied in the above image.
Scarf Secret Revealed- Fold scarf in half. Loop around neck. Pull only one strand of the scarf through the loop. Twist loop, then pull other strand through.
